I started playing drums in the tweenage years like a lot of kids do. I had a few lessons in public school and fortunately for me my younger sister had already started drumming and was taking private lessons. One day my mom suggested I take drum lessons like my sister and I did. 40 years later I'm still playing the drums.
Shortly after starting lessons I found myself playing in a Jr. Drum and Bugle Corps and Jr. High School band. This of course led to High School Marching Band, Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band. I took every kind of music course I could take and earned a spot by audition for the North Jersey Area band made up of the best high school musicians in northern New Jersey.
After high school I attended William Patterson University for two years to study music education before I transferred to and graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Ma. with a Bachelor degree in Music Performance.
It was during this time that I began teaching.
After graduation I stayed in Boston for 15 years, often juggling several bands.
While living and working there I was lucky enough to do studio work with producers that have gold and platinum records to their credits and been fortunate to perform live on major market radio.
I left playing and teaching behind for many years while I was pursuing a career in the music retail industry. Luckily for me I found my way back to a career behind the drums!
Currently in addition to playing in a working band I teach drums for The Phoenix Conservatory of Music, Guitar Center Stores and out of my home in north Phoenix.
